2HYPPPEEE!
My name is Cameron Portis, a junior studying Cybersecurity Engineering at George Mason University, and I serve as the current Fall Regional Conference (FRC) Chairperson. I, and the
entire Region II Executive Board (REB), are excited to see you at the 2025 Fall Regional Conference!
This year’s Fall Regional Conference (FRC) is rapidly approaching and is set to take place in Raleigh, North Carolina, at the Mariott Crabtree Valley Hotel from Friday, October 31st, to Sunday, November 2nd. This year, we are fortunate to be mere minutes away from the
illustrious Research Triangle Park in Durham, one of the most recognized research parks in the world. Research Triangle Park is home to more than 300 companies specializing in research and development in fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Biotechnology, Clean Energy, and more!
On behalf of the REB, we eagerly await an assembly of over 700 dedicated and driven members
who share a common goal of achieving the mission of the National Society of Black Engineers
(NSBE): “To increase the number of culturally responsible Black engineers who excel
academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community.”
The theme for this year’s conference is, "Advancing S.T.E.M. — Empower, Execute, Excel”:
1. Shaping the Future of AI, Sustainability, and Green Tech
2. Transforming Communities through Equity and Local Impact
3. Empowering Professional and Academic Excellence
4. Mobilizing Innovation through Legacy Work Across Generations
We’re reimagining the meaning of S.T.E.M. while placing an emphasis on a cycle of continued
excellence within the NSBE community. Through Empowerment, we seek to improve members’
confidence in themselves and their abilities as Black leaders and engineers. Through Execution,
we aim to provide members with tangible benefits and action steps for them to begin laying the
foundation for their future legacies. Through Excellence, we’re looking to celebrate the
members’ growth by showcasing their achievements and reinforcing a mindset of sustained
excellence in academics, careers, and community impact.
Whether it’s deepening your impact within the region, broadening your academic and
professional network, or finding your voice as a leader, the upcoming Fall Regional Conference
is sure to aid you in making strides in both your personal and professional career.
This year’s FRC would simply not be possible without the engagement of each and every one
of you, so on behalf of Region II, we can’t wait to see you in Raleigh!
Keep it 2HYPE,
Cameron Portis
